|
Ingeborg van der Oord,Sociaal Psycholoog | The aim of this approach is to create a sustainable network aimed at prevention, first around the elderly in the neighborhood and then expanded for the entire neighborhood. So that positive change in their lives (adding more health to life) can be tackled bottom-up earlier and change in a negative sense (e.g. covid, increased demand for care, questions of well-being / e.g. loneliness) can be prevented early, postponed, tackled with the help of a hybrid network collaboration by residents themselves, general practitioners, district nursing, neighborhood square, residential care, parties associated with care and welfare, residents in and outside the residential complexes, etc… |

Research group Architecture in Health |
Together with some colleagues of the research group Architecture in Health of the HAN University of Applied Sciences I conduct research on communal spaces in social housing estates in the Nijmegen area, Netherlands. Our research focuses on the question: How can the design of communal spaces in social housing promote use and social interaction among residents? In this presentation I will share some insights into: 1) sociophysical design factors that play a role when it comes to promoting the use of communal spaces and social interaction among residents, and 2) the wishes and needs of residents towards two of our case study communal spaces and how we translated them into design interventions. |
